The topic of mouse mats (or pads) is a very divisive one indeed. Some find them indispensable, and others literally find them a waste of money. And even if you are one of those who consider them a part of your gaming arsenal, subjective preferences will ensure that it will be impossible to pick “the best” out of all of them.

Unless you’re limited to a rigid set of requirements, that is. In my case, I was looking for the absolute thinnest “flexible” mat, which automatically rules out the 1mm and thinner hard polycarbonate “plastic sheet” ones right off the bat.

Amongst the ones left, it also must be of a certain size (not too small or big) and must be soft enough to pull double duty as a “protector” (with modifications – check out after the conclusion for details).

Ticking all those boxes led me to a few models, only one of which was readily available here in Malaysia: the Logitech G240.
